ICP Prüfungsgesellschaft mbH was founded on 20 March 2015 as a subsidiary of the ICP engineering companies in Karlsruhe and Leipzig. The managing directors are Dipl.-Ing. Gerd Burkhardt, Dr Thomas Egloffstein and Dr Georg Günther. The head of the external inspection body is Dipl.-Geol. Markus Schmiel. 

ICP Prüfungsgesellschaft mbH aims to carry out third-party testing services within the scope of landfill construction measures as an independent, third-party testing body in accordance with the Landfill Ordinance (DepV). The company is based in Karlsruhe, where the central testing laboratory is also located. ICP Prüfungsgesellschaft mbH is available to process external testing orders throughout Germany. 

According to the Landfill Ordinance, Annex 1, Chapter 2.1, the following applies to the external inspection of landfill sealing measures:

"The third-party inspection body must be recognised in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020:2012-07 (Conformity assessment - Requirements for the operation of different types of bodies performing inspections) as an inspection body for third-party testing in landfill construction and in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018-03.

ICP Prüfungsgesellschaft mbH decided to apply for accreditation for these above-mentioned services already at the end of 2014 and successfully completed the process of initial accreditation in November 2016 by receiving the accreditation certificates for the inspection body and the testing laboratory.

ICP Prüfungsgesellschaft mbH is accredited as a third-party testing body for sealing components made of mineral building materials including landfill asphalt according to BQS 9-1 and for sealing components made of plastics according to the BAM third-party testing guideline.
